My dad died when he was 95, but today would have been his 100th birthday! I am very grateful for him, and all the love and care and support he gave me and our whole family. He and my mom never failed to offer wise counsel and encouragement, no matter the circumstances. The year after he passed, Vancouver School of Theology held a conference on death and dying. I wrote an essay for the event, titled “My Father’s Garden,” which in large part was a tribute to my dad. It is available in the Archives section of this website.

Bob, thank you for acknowledging dad’s 100th birthday today in this way. I’d realized that this would be his 100th birthday but hadn’t found a way to let it be known. I look forward to reading your article about him and also to exploring the resources you’ve made available on your website. What a good idea to offer your resources in this way. I hope lots of people make use of what you’ve provided. Love, Kathy
